Choosing an Essay Topic

“The essay is a literary device for saying

almost everything about almost anything”
- Aldous Huxley

Most students find it difficult to write essays essays and choosing the right topic is one of the most difficult part in essay writing and it's never been easy. Choices are endless and probably your mind is block. These article will guide you in choosing the right topic for your essays.

A. Define Your Purpose
First thing you need to do is think about the purpose of the essay you are intended to write. Is your purpose to persuade people to believe as you do, to explain to people how to complete a particular task, to educate people about some person, place, thing or idea, or something else entirely? Whatever topic you choose must fit that purpose.

B. Brainstorm Subjects of Interest
Write down some subjects that interest you. start by looking around you. Is there anything in your surroundings that interests you? Think about your life. What occupies most of your time? That might make for a good topic. Don't evaluate the subjects yet; just write down anything that springs to mind.

C. Evaluate Each Potential Topic
Evaluate yourself.Think about how you feel about that topic. Choose a topic from which you are particularly well-informed.The most important factor in choosing a topic is the number of ideas you have about that topic.

Then work it into the introductory, or perhaps one of the body paragraphs as you write a second draft.
